Relay for Life

The Relay for Life had a wonderful turn out last Friday evening.  Over $67,000 has been turned in by Friday evening and they believe the final total could top $70,000.  A BIG THANK YOU to all of the club members who came Friday evening and helped at the campsite.

Board of Director’s Minutes

The Board of Directors met last Thursday for the June meeting.  The secretary and treasurer reports were approved as presented.  Our club has 43 members, with Dan Tracy and Dennis Suiter continuing on Leave of Absence for the summer.  Patrick Reavis and Lesa Finch were approved for membership.   Our web page now has links with the Kiwanis International web pages.  You may access our page by going to www.kiwanis.org/club/martin   The K Kids have completed their charter.  It was mentioned about having the $150 annual fee that needs to be reflected in next year’s budget.  One entry was received for the UTM Scholarship this year.  The board felt that the club show go ahead and award it this year.  Circle K is trying to get started again this Fall and we need to help them get going again.  The International Convention is July 2 – 6 in Honolulu, Hawaii and the District Convention is August 4 – 7 in Lafayette, Louisiana.   Bill Austin stated the date for the Soybean Roadrace will be Saturday, Sept. 10.  The race will have a different course this year due to more activities in the park area.  We will try to replace our sign, that was stolen last year.  We will also seek additional business sponsors for the race.   The BBQ Lunch Fundraiser data is Sept. 23.

Fishing Derby

Our annual Fishing Derby is THIS SATURDAY!!  It will be held at the Martin Recreational Complex.  We will need members to help throughout the morning.  A signup sheet is being passed around for members to signup to help.  Please give a couple of hours on Saturday morning.  We cosponsor this event with the Martin Park & Recreation Dept.
