Thought for the Week

Actually a marriage in which no quarreling at all takes place may well be one that is dead or dying from emotional undernourishment.  If you care, you probably fight.

Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

The Club Board of Directors met last Thursday for the August meeting.   The club membership has 43 members, with 2 members on leave of absence through August.   BBQ fundraiser is Sept. 23.  We had several members help Mary Elizabeth signup K Kids and Builder’s Club members at the school registration on Thursday.  We will check into our insurance to be sure the clubs are covered under our liability insurance for outings.  The Board would like to go ahead and award a scholarship for this year.  Charley and Steve are checking on details with Development and Student Financial Assistance offices.  Officer training is Aug. 20 at UT Martin.  We need to be sure our officers attend this training.  We received a request from the Martin Middle School Girl’s Soccer team requesting monetary support for a coach’s supplement.  The board voted to donate $500 toward this project.  The next board meeting will be Sept. 1 at the Weldon Public Library.

Suitcases for Kids Project

The Suitcases for Kids Project, sponsored by the Reelfoot Regional Association of Realtors is collecting gently used and new suitcases for foster care children through September 1st.  Aubyn Burnside, Hickory NC is founder of this national community service project.

Many foster care children carry their belongings in a black garbage bag.  Each child averages 7 moves while in foster care.

Can you help?  Bring your used suitcases, large duffel bags or backpacks to Fuller Partners 203 University St or call Michele 514-0628 for pickup.  Hard or soft luggage is acceptable.  Thanks for helping a child less fortunate than you.
