Thank You Note Received Our club has received a Thank You note from the Martin Middle School Girl’s Soccer team for our donation toward their team expenses and hiring a coach. Thought for the Week One of the reasons why so few of us ever act, instead of react, is because we are continually stifling our deepest impulses. --- Henry Miller |
Board of Directors Minutes The Board of Directors met last Thursday for the September meeting. Secretary and Treasurer reports were approved as presented. David Farrow, sponsored by Bob LeMaster, was approved for membership. Discussion was held about membership status of members who have not attended in quite awhile. The BBQ fundraiser is on target for Sept. 23. President Elaine is concerned for membership help with our sponsored clubs. A few members are doing all the work. Everyone needs to pitch in and help with the six sponsored clubs. Charley Deal presented a student for consideration to award the scholarship for this school year. The board voted to award the scholarship to Whitney Coomer of Martin. Officer inductions for the incoming year are planned for October 5. We need to have more orientations for new and “old” members. President Elaine asked about having a K History Moment as our meetings. She also asked about a greeting time to greet members and guests. These maybe started in the near future. The board also voted to donate $500 to the Kiwanis International Foundation to go to the Hurricane Relief. Hurricane Relief The Kiwanis International Foundation is collecting money to be sent to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Our Board of Directors voted last week to donate money from our club funds. They also wanted the membership to have a chance at donating to this cause. We will collect money through the month of September and forward all donations to the K. I. Foundation at that time. If you would like to make a personal donation, please mark you donation and give it to any club officer.
