New Members

In the past few weeks, we have inducted three new members.  David Farrow is an Assistant Professor of Engineering at UTM.  David’s sponsor is Bob LeMaster.  Bonnie Hernon is a retired music teacher.  Bonnie’s sponsor is Evelyn Blythe.  Janet Elliott is a senior manager at MTD in Martin.  Janet’s sponsor is Linda Ramsey.  Welcome these new members to our club.

Board of Director’s Minutes

The newly installed officers and board members met last Thursday for the October Board of Director’s meeting.  The treasurer and secretary reports were approved.  Dennis Suiter was granted a Leave of Absence for September thru December.  A short video presentation from Kiwanis International was played for the board.  It focused on Public Service Announcements to promote Kiwanis in the community.  We discussed how we could implement some of the ideas locally.  Frank Black reported on the THRIVE (Tackling the Health Risk of Influenza with Vaccination and Education) that Lt. Gov. Linda Ramsey presented last Wednesday.  Frank and Sue Laskey are gathering more information for the club.

K Education - Leave of Absence

If a member is unable to attend club meetings due to work, travel or other circumstances, the member may request a Leave of Absence from the club for a specified time period.  The member should make a written request to the Board of Directors stating the time period involved and the reason for the Leave.  The Board will act upon the request and notify the member if it was granted or not.  A leave may be requested for no less than 1 month or no more than 6 months a one time.

Thought for the Week

Change is the watchword of progression.  When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new.  The restless craving in the souls of men spurs them to climb, and to seek the mountain view.            – Ella Wilcox
