Board of Director’s Minutes

The Board of Directors met last Thursday for the November meeting.  The secretary and treasurer reports were approved as presented.  Our club has 47 members (43 active, 4 Senior members).   Dennis Suiter remains on leave thru December.  Bettye Giles is looking a maintenance items that we need to do on the park playground.  We are waiting on cost estimates for the ground cover material that needs refurbishing under the play structures.  Misty is progressing on the parade.  It is November 28.  Misty will also work on getting the Public Service Announcements on the radio.  Sue Lasky mentioned getting a marketing class to do a class project on marketing Kiwanis.  Sue will check on this item. Pancake Day 2006 is approaching.  President David will check about baseball signup and basketball championships to coordinate the date.  The board decided to help Maggie Hampton at Santa’s Village as individual members, not as a club project.

.K Education – Prospective Members

We have had several new members in the past few weeks.  Membership growth is vital to the club continuing to flourish.  Every member is encouraged to bring prospective members to a club meeting.  However, there is a protocol for asking someone to join.  A potential member must be appoved by the board of directors before joining the club.  Members should get this approval before asking a guest to join Kiwanis.  The member can come to the board meeting and propose someone for membership or let the President know information about your prospective member.  There is a $20 induction fee that is charged by Kiwanis International to someone joining Kiwanis.   Meals for guests will be charged to the club member.  The day the prospective member is inducted, the club will pay for the meal.

Thought for the Week

I have made mistakes but I have never made the mistake of claiming that I never made one.
