Board of Director’s Minutes

The Board of Director’s met last Thursday for the January meeting.  The secretary and treasurer reports were presented and approved.  Charley Deal reported that he has applied for a club charge account at EW James & Sons Supermarket.  We buy items several times a year from them and they are changing their charging policy.  A letter of resignation was received from Fred Lehmkuhl.   The board voted to drop Tim Moore from the club roster due to not attending and paying dues.   We now have 45 total members in the club (42 Active and 3 Senior members).   It was again discussed needing help with the sponsored club sponsors.  The Middle School is in need of a Kiwanis sponsor.  President David will get more information from principal Nate Holmes.

Mid-Winter Conference

A Mid-Winter Conference is the annual mid-year training conference that the District uses to re-motivate and refocus Kiwanians following the lengthy holiday season.   The Mid-Winter Conference will be held this year in Baton Rouge, La. on February 10-12.  The priority date for making hotel reservations at the Baton Rouge Marriott is January 17.  The advance conference registrations should be mailed by February 6.   The Memphis area clubs are chartering a bus that will leave Memphis on February 10 at 8 am and return on February 12 at 6 pm.  If you are interested in riding the bus, please contact the Memphis Kiwanians by January 16.

Countdown to Kindergarten

WLJT-TV and the Weldon Public Library are sponsoring the Countdown to Kindergarten on Saturday morning, Feb. 11.  They are asking for volunteers to help staff the event this year with registration, reading to kids, etc.  If you can help contact Roberta Peacock or Sue Laskey, or see the signup sheet passed around at the meetings.

Pancake Tickets

Tickets to this year’s Pancake Day fundraiser were handed out last week. If you have not received your tickets yet, please see David Spencer or John Overby.  The club voted for members to be responsible for selling 15 tickets or paying $60.00.  Please try to sell over 15!  More the Better!!!

Cub Scout Pack 37 Help

The Cub Scout Pack 37 will hold it’s annual Pinewood Derby Race on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 am in the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.  We need volunteers to help conduct the race.  Please see Steve Lemond if you can help Saturday morning for a couple of hours.
