Polo Shirt Order

Several people have asked about making an order for Kiwanis shirts with the club name embroidered on them.  Kiwanis International has a club name polo shirt available in both men’s and women’s styles, and available in four colors:  Navy, Royal Blue, White, and Yellow.  We must have at least 12 shirts to be able to have the club name on them.  We will pass a signup sheet around during the month of June.  We will place our order after the June 28 meeting.

Kiwanis Education – Honor Club Banner

Have you noticed the Honor Club Banner hanging from the podium each week at our club meeting?  Ever wonder how we obtained this honor?  The Kiwanis International Foundation began a program in 1997 to recognize clubs that excel in supporting the Foundation’s endowment.  Funds contributed to the endowment allow the Foundation to continue its support worldwide grants, Kiwanis International sponsored programs, and assistance to victims of disaster worldwide.

To be eligible for Honor Club status, club members and spouses must participate or be recipients of in the George F Hixon Fellowship, Table of Honor, and/or Heritage Society.  To date, more than 315 Kiwanis clubs participate in the Honor Club recognition program.  Currently in the Louisiana –Mississippi-West Tennessee District, only 18 clubs have qualified, and our club is only one of 4 clubs in West Tennessee.  Other West Tennessee clubs gaining this honor is Germantown, Memphis, and Union City.

You will notice the patches across the top of the banner symbolizing the three awards recognized by the banner.  Under each award type, a name patch displays the names of award recipients.  Many of our club recipients were honored during the late 1990’s for efforts during the Iodine Deficiency Disorder program.  More information is to come about each award type.

Club Program Committee

The Club Program Committee is looking for members to help bring programs to the club each week.  Typically, members are responsible for programs for a particular month, rotating with the other committee members.  If you would like to serve on this committee, let David Spencer or Misty Menees know.
