Board of Director’s Minutes The Board of Director’s met last Thursday for the July meeting. Eleven members were present. The secretary and treasurer reports were presented and approved. Dr. Keith Thompson’s name was presented for approval by David Spencer and approved for membership. The PR committee is busy working on a new club brochure. It will be a combination of ideas from the class projects. The committee hopes to have it ready in August. Kathy Eskew and Lesa Finch will be joining the program committee. This will give us four members on this committee. Other committee duties was discussed. We hope to have updated committee assignments in the near future. Kiwanis Education – Heritage Society The third type of honor displayed on our Honor Banner is the Heritage Society. The Kiwanis International Foundation established the Heritage society to recognize individuals who named the Foundation in their estate plans. As a main source of endowment support, Heritage Society gifts ensure future financial stability of the Foundation. Membership is offered to individuals who signify their intent to Provide a “planned gift” to the Kiwanis International Foundation Endowment Fund or Make an outright charitable gift of at least $5,000( District Convention The District Convention is August 3 – 6 at the Grand Casino Hotel in Tunica, Miss. Please see Linda Ramsey for convention registration forms. Martin Beautiful Committee Awards The Martin Beautiful Committee is now seeking nominations for the fifth annual Martin Beautiful Awards. There will be six awards given to recognize beautification efforts in five different categories: Residential (2), Business/Commercial, Nominations are accepted beginning Monday, June 19 thru Friday, July 21. After viewing the nominated sites during the week of July 23, the Martin Beautiful Committee will decide the winners. Winners will be announced at the Mayor’s Kickoff Luncheon on Sept. 5.
