Tail-Twister Money

Our tail-twister quarters really add up.  Over the last year we were fined almost $50 for things like not wearing our pin., having your picture in the paper for something other than Kiwanis, or calling someone by a title.  At the end of each year we draw out the name of one club member and let them choose what charity the money should go to.  Last week, we drew Mary Elizabeth’s name and she asked the Tail twister money go to the K-Family Relay for Life team.

K-Board News

The newly installed officers and board of directors met last Thursday for the October meeting.  A motion was approved to grant Roberta Peacock a two month leave of absence from the club. Color copies of the new Kiwanis brochure are being made and should be available soon. Our Kiwanis polo shirts have arrived.  We will be distributing them in the near future. The board agreed to fund our new website domain name. www.martinkiwanisclub.com   The cost is just over eight dollars a year.  Charley Deal reported on the We Care Christmas stocking project.  He has recruited help from Chris Munkel from Sodexho and Greek life organizations to help. Michelle Siler added that Key Club would help as well.  The board agreed to change the day of our weekly meeting the last week in October.  Instead of meeting on Wednesday October 25th, we will meet that Saturday for the UTM Homecoming.  We will have a tent set up from 10:30 – 1:30 in the University Quad. It will be come and go and go with lunch at 11:30.  The club will provide BBQ and club members will be responsible for bringing things like chips and drinks. A sign up sheet will be passed around.  The membership report shows we have 49 members, 46 Active, 3 on Senior Status with three new people approved for induction.  Frank Black is in charge of the 2006 Martin Christmas Parade.  The date is Monday, Nov. 27, Rainout date, Thursday, Nov. 30.  The Theme is Santa’s Winter Wonderland.  Next Board Meeting:  Thursday Nov. 2, 2006

New Member

Please welcome Ginny Esch into the club. Ginny works in the Educational Studies Department at UTM.  Newly inducted members are reminded of the three things they must do to earn an official Kiwanis badge: Greet at the door so that members can get to know you, attend a service project, and attend a Kiwanis Board meeting.  When you have done these three things let President Misty know so you can receive your badge.

K-News

We have a New Website!! If you miss a meeting be sure to check out www.martinkiwanisclub.org  Under the news section you can find a copy of the club bulletin from the meeting that you missed.

Guests

A reminder that when you bring guests to a club meeting you are responsible for the cost of their meal. ($6)  However, if that guest becomes a member, the club will pay for the cost of their meal on the day they are inducted.  We like guests!!  We love new members!!

New Member Recruitment Recognition Pins

Ruby K pins are available for recruiting 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, etc., up to 100 and in multiples of 25 over 100.
