Leadership
Nominations are being accepted for the 2007 Class of Leadership Weakley County. Kiwanis annually budgets money to pay the tuition of a club member of who like to represent Kiwanis is the great educational program. Beginning in January through May you will have seven half or full day sessions where you will travel around Weakley County learning about the people, places, and things that make the county tick. See Misty or Charley if you are interested.
Kiwanis Homecoming
Instead of meeting on Wednesday October 25th, we will meet that Saturday for the UTM Homecoming. We will have a tent set up from 10:30 – 1:30 in the University Quad. It will be come and go and go with lunch at 11:30. The club will provide BBQ and club members will be responsible for bringing things like chips and drinks. A sign up sheet will be passed around.
New Members
Please welcome Keith Thompson, Robin Munkle, Sharon Robertson and Ginny Esch into the club as our newest members. Remember, to receive your full membership badge you must complete three tasks. Greet at the door, attend a service project, and attend one monthly board meeting. Let Misty or Charley know when you have completed all three.
K-Kudos
Kiwanis Member Bettye Giles will receive the Chancellor’s Award for University Service during Homecoming Festivities this year. The award is given for outstanding service to UT Martin. Congratulations Bettye!
Congratulations to Elaine Knight’s Super Cute Dog. He won the Halloween costume Contest at the Country Pet Resort Open House last weekend. He was Darth Vader and he was the best behaved canine at the event.
Civic Sign
Our sign is finally up after much discussion with Martin Public Works, the sign is up on Lindell Street just past the Weakley County Animal Clinic bridge. Due to State Right of Way issues, we couldn’t put it coming in from Union City.
New Member Recruitment Recognition Pins
The Ruby K Award: By recruiting five or more new members during a member’s Kiwanis career a Kiwanian is eligible for the Ruby K Award. Ruby K pins are available for recruiting 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, etc., up to 100 and in multiples of 25 over 100. The award is cumulative so previous recipients are eligible for a new Ruby K when they recruit additional members.
