November Board Meeting

The November board meeting was held last Thursday.  Current membership is 49 which is just 5 members shy of the all-time record high.  The board agreed to sponsor Sue Lasky and Robin Munkle in Leadership Weakley County.  Money is budgeted every year but Kiwanis had no one participate in it last year.   An update on the We Care Stocking Drive was given.  Later this month we will meet to stuff stockings full of goodies for kids.  The Kiwanis Christmas Party will be Wednesday, December 20th at noon at the Martin Senior Adult Center.  The board agreed to spend up to $150 dollars to get T-shirts made for the K-Kids.  A date has been set for the Pancake Day…February 24th will be the date at Martin Primary School.  We will all be required to sell 15 tickets.  Also, anyone in the club who annually is in charge of an event or fundraiser needs to make a checklist of what to do and how to organize that event in the unfortunate case that something should ever happen to you.  5K, Pancake, BBQ, Fishing Derby, Parade, and Smoke Alarm day should all have some sort of something to follow.  Please give this to Misty in the near future.

K-Kudos

The Martin Kiwanis Club would like to recognize one of our Aktion Club members.  Belinda Edwards will be this year’s Tennessee representative to the WPSD TV Lion’s Club Telethon of Stars this weekend.  She will appear in several segments during the telethon and her bio talks about her involvement in the Aktion Club.  She is employed at Fantastic Sam’s in Union City and at J Marlins in Martin. Please consider making a donation to this years telethon. Your money will go directly to CDS in Martin to developmentally challenged adults like Belinda.

We Care Stockings

Charley Deal will give us an update today on the We Care stocking drive that Kiwanis has agreed to take over.  This project was a favorite of the late Mike Munkel and Kiwanis agreed to head it up this year in honor of our late friend.  We will be getting together with several campus organizations later this month to stuff stockings.
