Board Meeting
The Martin Kiwanis Board of Directors and Officers held their monthly meeting last Thursday at the library in downtown Martin. Items decided upon were for next years BBQ fundraiser. We will not be accepting COD’s next year. Due to lots of confusion all money for BBQ must be turned in prior to BBQ Day. Pancake Day is coming up Feb. 25th at the Martin Elementary School Cafeteria. Since we only have two fundraisers each year (Pancake and BBQ), each club member will be required to sell 15 tickets to the Pancake Breakfast. Our Cristmas Party is next Wednesday at this time. It is potluck so please sign up today to bring a dish. Kiwanis will provide Ham, Turkey, and BBQ. This reminder, if you have been thinking about asking someone to join Kiwanis, there has never been a better time as the new member fee has been waived through October 2007. The fee is normally $55. Thank you to new members Sharon and Ginny for making the meeting.
Mid-Winter Conference
This years Kiwanis Mid-Winter Conference is in Jackson, Mississippi on February 2-4th at the Jackson Downtown Marriott Hotel. Misty will forward all the details to all club members later. Anyone can attend the conference. Go for all three days or drive down for just Saturday. Learn new things, get inspired, and meet Kiwanians from all over West Tenn, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Kan Kounting
Way to go Kiwanis volunteers! Harry Henderson reports the can counting after Santa’s Village went very smoothly thanks to all the work done prior to Monday. Thank you to everyone who was able to help out. Over 31,000 food items were sorted, counted, and distributed.
Volunteers Needed
The CE Weldon Library will be hosting “It’s a Big Big World” for kids and Monday December 18th. Volunteers are needed from 2:45 until 4pm to assist. Please email Sue Lasky at slasky@utm.edu if you can help. |
