Getting to know:
Member Spotlight
Name- Brandy Cartmell

Children- I have two children; Megan is 17 and has been on the local cheerleading squads (which have won National Championship Titles) for the past 5 years and she will attend UT Martin in the fall. Chase is 14 and he plays football and basketball (very well I might add per a proud momma’s perspective). He will be a freshman at Westview next fall.
Pets- I have a little white 3-year old Maltese named “Duchess Chloe of the Cartmell Manor,” a 14-year old mixed breed (collie) named Toby, and two cats that I raised from kitten hood named Callie and Gizzy.
Job- UT Martin and owner of Brandy’s
Favorite movie of all-time-Chicago
First Job- Ponderosa Steakhouse
High school-Northwest High School in Jackson, Michigan Class of 1981
College- Central Mich. University, Jackson Community College, Spring Arbor University, and UT Martin
What is the farthest away from Martin you have been? Hawaii or Labadie, Tahiti
What was your most embarrassing moment? When Kevin tried to put my veil back down over my face after he did the “you may kiss the bride” (he said he did it at rehearsal too but we weren’t dressed and so we didn’t catch it then)
Why did you join Kiwanis? Elizabeth Weatherford was my sponsor, but I really was the one who asked her to sponsor me in 1994. I joined so that I could get to be part of helping the community
Favorite Kiwanis memory? Pancake breakfast has to be pretty memorable, but also District Convention was fun when Kevin got to go and dress in a Kimono on the “spouses” excursion
Favorite Kiwanis activity? Pancake breakfast…slinging eggs (slinging slaw is fun too though)
If you could ask one local person to join our club who would it be? Probably Dr. Tom Rakes |

KIWANIS ONE DAY
April 7, 2007 every Kiwanis, Key, Circle K, Builders, K Kids, and Action Clubs will be doing some form of Service. We will decide what our project will be and work with our Service Leadership Clubs to get it accomplished. All Clubs should be aware of that date and should be making their plans now.
