Name- John Overby
Where do you work? In the College of Business and Public Affairs as a professor of Human Resources Management and Department Chair for Management, Marketing, and Political Science.
What is your Favorite Sports Team? St. Louis Cardinals. I was born and raised in the era of Stan the Man and the Boyer brothers.
Where was your first Job? Cutting grass and selling greeting cards
What high school did you graduate from? Portland High School, Portland, TN in 1965
Where did you attend college? BS from Austin Peay State University, MBA from Murray State University and DBA from Louisiana Tech University
What is the farthest away from Martin you have been? China
What was your most embarrassing/(funny) moment? The day I slipped and said a naughty word in class.
Why did you join Kiwanis? Because I spoke at Kiwanis and mentioned that my Dad was a Kiwanian. The whole club asked me to join.
What is your favorite Kiwanis activity? Pancake Day or the Christmas Parade
If you could ask one local person to join our club who would it be? I am not sure. Every member I have asked has resigned within two years. It must be a curse I put on them or something.
KIWANIS ONE DAY
On April 7, 2007 every Kiwanis, Key, Circle K, Builders, K Kids, and Action Club will be doing some form of service. It will be a joint project and we will work with our Service Leadership Clubs to get it accomplished. It has been suggested that we pick the five spots in Martin that need cleaning up the most and divide into five crews and spiff up our city a bit. What are Martin’s five trashiest places?
