Sweetheart and Lady Chis

A Sigma Chi Sweetheart is a girl who embodies the ideals, standards, and beliefs that all Sigma Chi’s hold close. Elected at the end of the Spring semester, essentially the Sweetheart is the girl that the Brothers would give a bid to if they were able to do so. As a general rule, each undergraduate chapter elects a female associated with the chapter as the chapter sweetheart. At each Grand Chapter, the fraternity chooses a Sweetheart from one chapter to be the International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi for two years. The International Sweetheart Award is presented based on personality, character, campus involvement, Sigma Chi activities, general accomplishments, poise, and grace. Each nominee must be the sweetheart of an undergraduate chapter for the year nominated and a student at the nominating chapter's university.

The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi

“The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi” is also a very famous song written in 1911 by Byron D. Stokes. It is said to be the most beloved and popular of any college fraternity song and has been sung by celebrities and famous musicians alike, even inspiring two Hollywood movies appropriately named “The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi”.

When the world goes wrong, as it’s bound to do And you’ve broken Dan Cupid’s bow And you long for the girl you used to love the maid of the long ago

Why light your pipe, bid sorrow avaunt, Blow the smoke from your alter of dreams And wreathe the face of your dream-girl there The love that is just what it seems.

The girl of my dreams is the sweetest girl Of all the girls I know Each sweet co-ed, like a rainbow trail Fades in the after glow

The blue of her eyes and the gold of her hair Are a blend of the western sky

And the moonlight beams On the girl of my dreams She’s the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi
