Studio Stratton - Pre-College Program

Thank you for your interest in advanced musical study. The Stratton pre-college program is structed into three tiers which are detailed below. My pre college program is designed to build skills through training within a musical perspective. No matter what your level of scholarship, we will work to master the fundamentals of technique. I aim to help students build efficiency and set the building blocks to develop complete musicians. Through in depth study of rhythm, ear training, basic theory concepts, brass performance, and brass pedagogy, students of the Stratton pre-college program will be prepared for their life in music.

Program Details

Tier I- Beginnings

Students grade 7-9 will start the program during the summer prior to their seventh grade year of school. Tier I Students will be taught by a member of the UT Martin tuba/euphonium studio and are expected to meet for 30 minute lessons every other week.

Tier II - Intermediate

Students grade 10-11 will start the program during the summer prior to sophmore year in high school. Tier II students will be taught by a combination of advanced students in the UT Martin tuba/euphonium studio and Professor Stratton and are expected to meet for a 60 minute lesson a minimum of three time per month.

Tier III - Advanced

Students grade 12 will start the program during the summer prior to their senior year of high school. Tier III students will be taught by Professor Stratton and are expected to meet for 60 minute lessons every week.

Skype

Long distance and International lessons may be obtained through Skype. Skype is considered a potential substitute for students in the program that run into travel problems. Payment for Skype lessons is made through PAYPAL. Contact Professor Stratton to arrange lessons through Skype

Smartmusic

Students in the Stratton Studio pre-college program are highly encouraged to obtain a subscription from www.smartmusic.com. Your subscription to smartmusic comes with a tuner and metronome. Smartmusic will allow me to keep track of your progress during weeks in between lessons.

Payment

Payment in full is due on the last day of the month prior to the next months lessons. A fee schedule may be obtained by contacting Professor Stratton.
