If you are watching us over-the-air, you may need a new antenna.

Most of the older antennas in our area are VHF (Very High Frequency) designed for Channels 2 – 13.  Our new digital signals are UHF (Ultra High Frequency, Channels 20 -50). If you are having trouble receiving us, you most likely need to replace the old antenna with a new, UHF antenna.

WLJT’s new digital channel is 47.  When your TV or converter box receives the signal, it will display our programming as 11.1 / 11.2 / 11.3

These antennas are specifically tuned to receive our digital signals. You may also consider adding an antenna/line amplifier to boost the signals.  Some folks have found us by just moving their antenna from one side of the house to another.

UHF signals can be more difficult to receive.  They are more prone to interference from trees, hills, buildings, etc..  The farther you are from the transmitter, the higher your antenna must be, and pointing it towards the Jackson area will help.

It appears that reception of our digital signal will be spotty and more difficult beyond 50 - 55 miles from our transmitter (off the 412 between Jackson & Lexington). The greater the distance, the better the UHF antenna must be.

When you get the signal it will be perfect in all aspects.  If the tuner can’t "grab" the signal, it will drop out of memory. This is the “cliff affect” of digital reception.
