What is a portal?
A portal is a customizable website that gives you access to resources and services in one location. Specific to myUTMartin you receive access to UT Martin services such as Banner, Email, and Blackboard as well as resources such as student announcements, course schedule, Pacer headlines, and so on.

How do I benefit?
myUTMartin provides single sign-on access to other UT Martin systems. For example, once you login to the portal you simply click on Banner to access Banner web and click on Email to access student mail. There is no longer a need to login two different times to access these separate systems. You also receive the ability to customize your myUTMartin page to display the information that most interests you.

Portal Layout
Once you login to myUTMartin the following page will appear (see image below - arrow 1). At the top right of the page notice the following links: Help, Customize, and Logout. Click Help to access the portal tutorials. Click the Customize link to begin modifying your page to fit your needs. Click Change Password to change your portal password as well as your Banner, Student Lab, and Student email password. And click the Logout button to log out of the portal when complete.

Below that area notice the orange bar that stretches across the page (see image below - arrow 2). Within this area direct access is provided to Banner, Blackboard, Email, and UT Martin website links. Click these links to access the corresponding service or resource. Note that a new window will appear. Close the window to return to myUTMartin.



Below the orange bar area are three columns or regions which consist of portlets (see image below). Portlets pull snippets of information from various sources. For example, the course schedule portlet pulls your current semester schedule from the Banner student information system.



On each portlet notice the collapse/restore and close buttons (see image below - arrow 1). Click the collapse button to remove portlet text from view. Click the restore button to bring back into view.

Some portlets also include a Customize link as well (see image below - arrow 2). If a Customize link is available, then you have the ability to personalize that portlet. For example, the Favorites portlet gives you the ability to save your favorite website links for quick access from your myUTMartin page.
