This format emphasizes your written contributions to the discussion of the work we are looking at in class each week, and should give you time to think about what you want to say and contribute it quickly. Remember that you are only "present" if you contribute to the discussion, and those who contribute more, and more thoughtful comments, will get higher marks for participation. Make specific reference to the parts of the work that support your observations.
Topic for this week's discussion: image and metaphor, in any poem by Emily Dickinson (pp 669, 739-40, 804, 868, & 912-17), or in CH 15, Imagery (743-63); or (and especially) There is a Garden in her face" or "The Fish" by Elizabeth Bishop.
Leaf through the poems listed looking for places where you think any of those elements are particularly important. When you find one, list it, and explain precisely what you see going on. Start, as always, with your reaction to or impression of one of these poems that strikes your ear or eye, and explain that reaction, or ask questions about things in the poem which puzzle you.
