    If when we talk you hear only what you have decided already to hear, no matter what I am saying, then we are not communicating. If when you read a poem you don't really care what the poet is saying, you are interested in finding only what you are predisposed to find, you are not learning, or even reading. There are some philosophers who believe that this is the way things work; they are the deconstructionists.
