In "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," why did the Mariner kill the Albatross in the first place? Why was he the only one left to live, just so he could tell the story? This poem reminds me of the ancient Greek legends in which ordinary people overcame extraordinary obstacles. Is this the only poem of Coleridge's that is similar to Greek legend rather than dealing with nature and feelings alone?
