    As I have said each year at this time. I am not from the South and do not consider myself to be a southerner. However, I do still have impressions about the South and its politics. I remember commenting to a small group of colleagues a couple of years back, "I just don't understand local government down here." There were appropriate chuckles and comments from those who had lived here much longer than I. "No one ever does" "No one never will" "It is not for us to understand" From what I have seen, the ol' boy network is very much alive and kicking and the ol' gals needn't ought apply.
