I would like to respond to Angela Martin's comment about the confederate flag. I do think it is a symbol of pride, or was. Now it has become a symbol of everything that is wrong with the south. When I think of prejudice in the south, I think of the "stars and bars" as some call it. It is a symbol of IGNORANCE and anyone who doesnt think so hasnt been paying much attention to his or her fellow southerner. And the bad thing is that everyone in the south is not racist or biased, but that flag follows us around everywhere. People think, "He's from the south, so he's probably racist." And I cant stand to see someone at a concert raise a rebel flag, because to me that says, "Hey look at me, I'm ignorant. My ancestors were slave owners and now I'm gonna raise this flag to honor that." It kind of makes me sick. I think most people who see the confederate flag as a symbol of pride have a "the south's gonna rise again" kind of pride, and that's not any kind of pride to be proud of. I think people who own rebel flags are openly racist, and the bad thing is that they're not afraid to admit it. So, I hope the "old" south doesnt rise again. In fact I wish it would fall completely. Then an open minded south free of the past could rise in its place.
