I am responding to the issue of the rebel flag in athletics.
Recently, Tommy Tuberville, Ole Miss' head coach, banned the
rebel flag from the Rebels' stadium. His reason for doing this
was that it was hurting his recruiting. If that is the case,
I can't blame him for banning the flag. However, in my opinion,
if you're going to take the rebel flag away, you might as well
go ahead and change your mascot. This is not only a problem
at Ole Miss but at many high schools across the South. My
reccomendation is the same for all; if you're going to take
away the symbol that is crucial to the rebel mascot, you should
take away the rebel mascot.
