Certainly, the funniest thing about the South is that we think there's anything funny about the South. Midwesterners don't think that they are funny, New England Yankees don't think anything is funny, Westerners think everyone else is a little funny, and Alaskans and Hawaiians don't care what anybody else thinks. So why is it that Southerners think they are funny? Could it be another insidious liberal media conspiracy? Could it be that Southerners themselves think that life in the South is funny? Could it be the inevitable chemical imbalance caused by combining immutable humidity (it is the humidity, not the heat!) with saturated fat, hair spray, chew, and Coca Cola? I don't know, but I'd like to know.
