The South is funny because of one reason in particular. JEFF FOXWORTHY! Before, the South was a kind of magical/mystical place for all those Yankees who have never lived here before. He has, in my mind, single-handedly made a way for people who have only vague ideas about us to connect with little (or more often big) eccentricities that all people share. You know the ones where he talks freely about his own family? Well, think about it. Who doesn't have at least some of the very same kinds of things happening in their own family, no matter what race or origin? I mean, even the John Cheeses of this world have to think about letting their yard grow up so high, you'd could make the kids go out and play hide and seek and not even worry about calling the babysitter. They're stayin' right where they're at for a while!
