People in today's society want to change everything there is that makes the South unique. Civil rights activists are trying to get rid of the "rebel" flag. But what they, like many others, don't understand is that the flag and everything it stands for is a part of our history. There is no changing that. You can't run away from it, all we can do is learn from it. The flag is not a symbol of hatred, it is a piece of history. It represents a time when the south was almost it's own world with it's own rules and regulations. The south is hospitality. That is what we are known as throughout the world. Go anywhere inside or outside the contental U.S., and when you mention that you are from the south people automatically want you to talk. To say words like ya'll, and gunna. They want you to talk about what "southern hospitality" is. There are things about the south that have changed for the better. Racial issues are not as strained as they used to be. But I don' t think we will ever truly lose the "South" and what it stands for.
