The Southern people have the reputation of being uneducated, racist, redneck hicks. On one occasion when I was in a northern state, someone asked me if I had put on shoes to come in the store. Others automatically assume you are racist. The people of the South do talk with an accent, but it is not recognised for the beautiful thing we know and love. Eventually, I think the accent will die out as the generic, non-accented talk used on television infiltrates our homes. Anyways, where else can you find that good, homemade, Southern cooking?
