The South has changed a lot from what my grandad told me. He still remembers the time when a persons hat would come off as soon as they entered the door. Grandmother still cooks a good dinner on a wood stove. Being around both of them, I have been drilled with the morals and expectitations of a southern family. I sometimes wonder if I will be the same way when I get older. With all the technology that has evolved in the past century, it's scary to think about what it will be like in the future. So many people don't have grandparents like mine and I wonder what their viewpoints are towards country living. No matter what happens in the future, the South will continue to travel it's own path and in time may be considered a completely different part of the United States. As culturally diverse as the South is, we could very easily support ourselves if the South ever became independent. The South's heritage will be here for as long as people still remember the ways in which hardships were overcome. Someone once told me that change was good and I believe that the South will change dramatically and it will not be for the good.
