I think that in the future the perspective of others about the South will change. I think within the next 50-100 years the stereotype of Southerners as racisit, funny-talking hillbillies will become extinct. People will begin to recognize Southern hospitality more than the close-mindedness that characterized the 60's. Farmers will be seen as eager businessmen looking for ways to be more efficient and productive. People will look to the South as a place booming with a variety of industries and cultures. We will start to blend in more with the mosaic that our American culture is becoming and at the same time find a new identity as Southerners. This is my hope for the future of the South.
