I have learned that the south has been known for production agriculture. Now, staying here, I found out that the south has absolutely great farmland and rural areas. In addition, when I heard "Asians are not allowed here" by a guy on his pick up truck, looking proud of himself, I also learned this area has prejudice about different races, and no relationship with new ones. If there are many other people like him, it will be very hard for the south to wish to be globalized. I am not trying to say that rural areas or farmlands should be gone and lots of huge buildings like those in New York city and shopping malls should be constructed, and that even the mainframe supporting the southern people in their own traditional characteristics should be changed. I am just a foreign student, actually alien, so I can't be qualified for talking about it, but I love here, and want pick up driver and people like him to get rid of the prejudice about new comers who are different. A human is a social animal. Nobody can live without other people. Maintaining one's traditional charateristics is surely important. Here I would like to say " being open minded is important, so peope in the south make the south attractive to foreigners and even new immigrants". the south surely can be as hospitable as international cities like NY and LA.
