There is one way and only one way in which I hope that the South will change. My only wish is that one day maybe everyone will be able to get along down here. I just do not believe that it's necessary for one group of people to disassociate themselves from another group simply based on insignificant differences. Fortunately, the South has come a long way quite rapidly in comparison with the not-so-distant past. However, much progress has yet to be made. This can and will happen. The only thing we have to do is open up our minds and place all of our indifferences behind us. The past is the past. We can all learn a lot from the past, but we shouln't dwell on the past, either. We must continue to move forward into the future. It won't all happen at once during our generation. That would truly be naive thinking. We can and should improve this trifling situation, however. If not for ourselves, we should do it for our children, their children, and their children's children. They will one day be able to interact with each other without regard to outward appearance. It should never matter who one is, absolutely never. Let us all try and be ethically correct for once. The most beautifull people are those who love themselves as well as others. In closing, let us not stumble back through our elder ancestors' thornbushes, but let us slide down and away from the path of agony and despair that our mothers and fathers have worn away for us. May God bless those who see others for whom they really are and may He have mercy on those who don't.
