When I think about southern music, I think about the "blues" and gospel music. The "blues" is music that is brought from the soul and it comes out when you sing it. It tells your problems and your woes. When you listen to the music you can feel every emotion the the singer is going through. The "blues" was here before my time. I can remember waking up on Saturday morning and hearing my great-great grandmother playing the blues in the morning. The smell of pancakes, sausage, eggs, and toast would greet me and the sound of Z.Z Hill or Al Green. Now I play the blues when I get in the mood of cleaning and just meditating about the frustrations of my day. The sound of Al Green puts me in a good mood and I think about when I was younger and my grandmother played him. I think everyone can sing a little blues when they feel depressed or feel like bringing out something that has been bothering them. The "blues" made a big impact on the music we listen to today. No matter if you are black or white you have heard the "blues". When you listen to a sad song or a rock band throwing there problems out at you at with a strong drum background, you can feel exactly what they are trying to say.
