    Everybody has a story to tell about life. Music is the same way. Every type of music whether it is country, blues, hard rock, rap, or whatever, that songwriter or singer has a story to tell. Southern Music to me usually brings to mind the term "country music". Which is then thought to be the guy or girl singing about losing their loved one or their favorite dog but in any sense it is still music. Who are any of use to tell one person or another that something they sing or write is not music. Older generations may think of Elvis when you say Southern Music, but I believe that changing times has brought that to and end.
