I think Southern music is a part of our heritage. What makes
Southern music Southern, is many parts of our life. It
speaks of heartbreak and sadness, yet sparks hope and
happiness to our lives. It often uses guitars, harmonicas
and drums to sound out a feeling or idea. But, it can be
just someone singing alone. The South has been through
several hardships throughout the years, but has survived.
That is what makes Southern music Southern. The pride and
determination of our people and our unfailing resolve to
continue no matter what the problem. I am proud to be part
of the South but hope to experience other cultures in the
US. I hope to incorporate all of my experiences into one.
