I believe one of the best representations of southern music is Bluegrass. The fact that it uses banjos and guitars, which are southern based instruments, as well as a fast-paced, jazzy beat gives Bluegrass music its Southern originality. When one hears this unmistakable tempo, a mental picture of a small town fair, with this southern genre, quickly comes to mind. All in all, Bluegrass music is a definite symbol of southern music types.
