When I think of southern culture the first thing that comes into my mind is the sound of country music. I remember when you could turn on the radio and listen to country stars such as George Jones, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson. However, today all of the radio stations seem to have quit playing the older country artist in favor of the newer artists. I believe that the older style of country music best represents the south because the songs mainly tell about simplicity. Whether the song was about church, farm life, or just the beutiful wildlife they all told some kind story about the southern way of life. Therfore, I believe that country music best represents the sounds of the south rather than Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis or some other artist.
