Southern Music to me is music that reflects our great culture. It is stories sung from the heart that tell what the southern life is like. There are many different types that you could classify as Southern music. When I think of southern music I think of bluegrass and old gospel. My personal favorite is country because it, along with other good southern music, is just good down to earth music that doesn't go too far like some other kinds of music. I don't particularly have a favorite country singer, but Alan Jackson or George Strait would be close. I also like Lynard Skynard and ole Hank Williams Junior. There will never be another band like Lynard Skynard. "Free Bird" is killer. Of course, there have been many famous rock and jazz singers that make music that is classified as southern, though you wouldn't think it at first. Elvis, along with many others, was born in the good ole south and if you listen to his music carefully, it does sound kind of southern. I like many kinds of music, but southern music is something I can listen to and feel completely at home when doing so.
