    Personally, I do not feel that southern families are really that different. I have lived in Illinois my entire life, and I fail to see how any of the below mentioned qualities of a "southern family" are different from my own. My maternal grandmother had 10 children; you can only begin to imagine our family reunions. Basically, I feel that it's all up to the family, and you cannot assume that families are tighter knit because of their geographical location.
