I do not come from a traditional "Southern" family, so at times like this I just have to mentally sit back, observe, and smile. : )
Unfortunately, the GENERAL definition of family is changing. Whether in the South or not, families now often have one parent, three or more parents, two parents of the same sex, half-children, and step-children. The mind set of today's generations is tearing our families apart. On the other hand, families have always had problems. Perhaps those problems are just now worsening.
The modern family is up against a lot, and I challenge the students of today to demonstrate a love, faithfulness, and sense of responsibility to their families unheard of in today's society. I challenge the students of today to treat the family as the precious treasure it is, though it will always be a work in progress.
One man built his house on a rock. The other built his house on sand. When the storms of life came, only the house on the rock stood firm. Build your future families on the solid foundation of Jesus, and they will withstand the storms of today's society. Matt. 7:24-27
