Personally, half of my family is from the north and half from the south. My parents divorced when I was two, so ever since I can remember, I spent all school year with my mom's side in the south and every summer with my dad's side in the north. I think that this has given me a great view on the differences and similarities between northern and southern families. Both sides of my family hold great beliefs in the unity of the family. We all try to keep in touch as much as possible and when holidays come around, both invite whoever is able to come. The only difference I have seen between my mother's side and my father's side is the language that is used in the households. Things like pop vs. coke. All in all, I refuse to classify myself as from a southern family or northern family, I am from an American family and that is all that is important.
