I certainly believe southern families are different from families elsewhere. Southern families tend to be more extended and closer together. Many times memebers of a southern family only live a few miles from each other. This allows them to see each other much more and get together more often. Southern families also tend to be full of great stories and memories. I can't count on both hands the number of stories I've heard my grandmother and other older family members tell. On the other hand, I can only think of a couple of stories from the past my northern relatives have told. Unfortunately there has been a change in the southern family in recent years. I think in some ways modern-day society is catching up with the southern family. After all, when was the last time everyone in your home gathered around the radio on a Saturday night to listen to the Grand Ol' Opry?
