Southern Mothers When I think of southern families, my mother comes to mind. In my opinion, it is the mother that holds southern families together. The rest of the family helps out, but every family comes home to their mother at night. Years back, all a southern mother had to do was stay at home and do housework, and raise the children. That was not just a walk in the park either. Nowadays, a southern mother often works a full-time job and still manages to come home and cook and take care of her family. My mother is a perfect example of this. She works full-time for a doctor and then comes home to cook and get everything in line. Most nights my mother leaves work, starts supper, and begins to wash the clothes. If she is lucky, she might have enough time to read the paper before she has to go to bed. When she wakes the next morning, she is working again. She first begins to wash more clothes and cook breakfast. Soon thereafter, she wakes the rest of the family and begins getting them ready for school and work. After everyone is done eating, she cleans the kitchen. She then gets ready for work herself. After everyone is taken care of, and off to work and school, She makes sure everything done, and leaves to put in a full day’s work herself. I believe southern mothers deserve more respect than what they get. Most people think that just because a mother might not have the most strenuous job, she doesn’t work hard. There is probably not a man out there that would trade place with a southern mother.
