When I think about a "southern family" I think about my family. In my immediate family there are six of us; my mom, dad, three brothers and me. I have five aunts, four uncles, and ten cousins. I still have my grand parents and one of great grand fathers in my life. We all live with in a hundred mile radius of each other with the exception of one uncle. Every major holiday we have to make a stop at both grandparents' houses and see all the family. We either have lunch or supper together and man can my grandmothers cook. The major holiday in our family is the Fourth of July. My grandfather owns a farm in Brownsville, Tn and every year he cooks the best ribs and barbque ever. The whole family shows up for the afternoon lunch. This includes my great aunt and uncles, second and third cousins and close friends of the family. It is a mini family reunion and one event in my life that I will not miss. Stories are told about past experiences on the farm and it is quite amazing to hear some of the stories that they tell on each other. Some how every year the stories are changed or exagerated a little bit. When the title of a "southern family" is mentioned I always think of my family first.
