Throughout my childhood, I have been engulfed in Southern family traditions and activities. For a living, my dad goes to auctions and buys old farm equipment, then fixes it up and sells it. Growing up, my front yard was full of tractors, bushhogs, and trailers. Can you get more southern than that?? I am from Columbia, where the biggest event of the year is Mule Day, a weekend in which mules take over the entire city. The weekend consists of a mule-pulling contest, a liar's contest, a pancake breakfast, a parade, and an arts and crafts show. People come from literally all over the country to see this event, and it was actually a story on A&E last year (high class, huh?). Anyway, all that to say that I am very glad that I was raised in a home that was so saturated with southern values and traditions. I wouldn't have it any other way.
