What is "Family"? Anthropologists say a culture's biological and maritial kinship rules and patterns of reciprocal obligations define family. A Southern family is a family that is very traditional. They make you feel welcome. I feel that there may be some differences in families, but it doesn't matter where you are from. There is not one family in this world that is exactly alike. I have heard many people say that folks from the South are more friendly. I don't see the difference. What does make a difference is the person. Each family has there own traditions. Like my family and many other families, we like to have Sunday dinners. That's when everybody goes over my grandmother's house after church and have a big family meal. Many people would say that this is a Southern Tradition, but there are families up North that do the same thing.I feel that one difference in Southern Families compared to the others is the cooking tradition, and what types of food we eat.
