I can't really say if there is a difference in southern families and families from the other regions of our country because I have never lived anywhere but Tennessee. I have lived in the same town my entire life. My grandparents, aunts, and uncles all live within a 20 mile radius of my home. Our family is small if you are speaking of the traditional family, but we have a large extended family. Our extended family includes neighbors, fellow church members, merchants in town, and just about anyone you meet on the street. We see the same people on Monday that we sat beside at church on Sunday. We know their families. We know their successes and their failures. We know the good, the bad, and the ugly, but we all love each other anyway. We are all different, but we are all part of one big family. Are Southerners different? I can't say for sure, but we do love our Lord, our family, and our country. We may cook, talk, and act a little different from the rest of the country, but at any given time we would be happy to have them come for a visit. We might even fry up a chicken, make a batch of biscuits, and bake them a pecan pie.
