As from the comments already posted, it's hard to describe the Southern lady; it depends upon how one defines such a lady. Most of us probably have different ideas in our heads from our personal observations and/or experiences. Or perhaps a lot of us have a preconceived ideas of what a Southern lady ought to be from media stereotypes--the Scarlett O'Hara type is a classic example. (I pesonally don't think that there were a lot of ladies like Scarlett --she's in a class of her own.) I see the Southern lady as being one who has the ability to do a lot of things--take care of the home and family, work outside or inside the home, who exhibits hospitality, and has a true genteel spirit that makes her worthy of the title of a lady. And I suppose a Southern lady can exist almost anywhere, and not just the South. I think that the Southern lady is a very special type of woman who should be confident in who she is and should not let others determine who she should be or do.
