The only thing that comes to my mind when I think of a southern woman is: What exactly is a southern woman, and what is a southern lady? Me, being of northern heritage, might think of a southern lady, or a woman, differently than one from the south might. A lot of the views of the early southern history, I disagree in. Many people might not think of a southern lady as including a minority, like an african american lady, but I would. A lot of people might also think of a southern person as cooking grits all the time, and okra, and fried green tomatoes, and things of that nature. I think that a southern lady is different from a southern woman. A southern woman can just be someone that lives in the south. But, a southern lady is one that has certain distinct qualities that makes her surpass the category of just being a woman.
