When I think of Southern women, I think of the Menonites. They are a perfect example of how life was hundreds of years ago, back when gas and electricity were nonexistent. They clearly embody what it means to be Southern by their persistent ignorance of modern technology. However, the modern Southern woman wants less time- consuming ways to do various activities, whether these activites be for work or home. That is why they use modern technology. They use the washer and drier to clean clothes rather than scrubbing them in a bucket with a brush. They also use microwaves to cook food in a matter of minutes instead of slaving over a stove all day. But, no matter what walk of life a woman is from, being a Southerner is a choice rather than a necessity. (A woman can move to Atlanta and live there for the rest of her life, but still prefer to be referred to as a Yankee because of where she was born.)
